Welcome to monstercross
Firstly, what on earth is monstercross? The simplest version is that it's an off-road or mountain bike, but with drop bars. It's not a racing bike; it's a do-it-all bike, and usually described as sitting between a 29" hardtail and a cyclocross.
Enter the Vagabond. Genesis call it their Frankenbike, and quite rightly, too.
The Vagabond loves the dirt, and so do its 1X setup and 29" tyres. You're not just limited to the trails, though. Got a sudden hankering for some road touring? It's more than happy to oblige; just swap the tyres or wheels over, and you're good to go.
Add in mechanical disc brakes for excellent stopping power -- even in wet conditions -- as well as myriad mounting points for versatility plus a tubeless-ready setup, and you can see why the Vagabond is about to become your go-to ride.
After buying a brand new bike from overseas, I was very disappointed with the brakes. I took it to my LBS and was told to throw the brakes away and put some others on it. I took it to BMCR, who gave them a quick bleed and adjustment. They went from Formula Frigged to Formula Frigging Awesome. Best…Charles Hatcher
